Welcome to the UCT Badminton Club
Welcome to the website of the UCT Badminton Club. Here you can learn about the sport, what is offered by the club
and how to get involved
What the club offers
The club caters for all levels of experience, from the "never seen the game" to the "I played for my country". Most members of the clubs play socially and/or to keep fit and/or to get away from the stress of university. The club also takes part in the WPBA league
run by the Western Province Badminton Association (WPBA). The club also takes part in the annual South African Student Sports Association (SASSU) Badminton Tournament -- which is effectively a trournament for all university the badminton clubs in South Africa.
We also offer coaching for our members, although most of the coaching is targetted at the league team members. The club provides shuttlecocks, nets, poles and also has a few racquets for the beginners. However, we strongly encourage our members to get their own racquets.
Great! How do I get Involved?
Unfortunately, the club is only open to UCT students and staff. The club does, rarely, allow for external members, but under very special circumstances
. See this
page on how to join the club and the current membership fees
. If you are UCT student or staff member, you are welcome to try out the sport for free (only twice though!). Please see our practice times and venue here
